BIO
Amsterdam-based artist Corina Hallatu draws her inspiration from ancient myths and mystical worlds. Fascinated by the legends of Avalon and the Seth Books by Jane Roberts, she has long been captivated by questions of other dimensions, hidden realms, and the mysteries of what can and cannot be seen.
Her work includes a series of secret maps and a collection of portal paintings. For Corina, a painting can act as a guide into meditation, while meditation itself can become a portal into another unseen world.
Although she treasures the dark, cold winters of the Netherlands, Corina is equally drawn to Bali, Indonesia. The island’s magical landscapes, its spiritual presence, and the intoxicating scents of incense, herbs, and tropical flowers draw her back year after year.
One night in Bali, during Nyepi—the Balinese Day of Silence, when all lights across the island are extinguished—she looked up to see a sky overflowing with stars. The heavens felt so close that, for a moment, she believed she might fall into them, crossing into another dimension.
Through her paintings and maps, Corina invites viewers to step with her into these hidden worlds, exploring the threshold between the seen and unseen.
